SIMFLEX

Design of the new local flexibility markets in Spain

The Simflex project takes on the creation of new platforms for the development and operation of local flexibility markets. To do this, the potential operating design of these markets will be analyzed so that they are properly integrated with the European Market and the prices provided by it.

Similarly, these new market tools offered in Simflex should allow the new actors located in the distribution networks (“Distributed Energy Resources") to manage their production and consumption according to existing conditions and prices, on the one hand, and on the other, enable the distribution network managers and the system operator to manage the networks in their field of action, solving persistent traffic issues and/or eventual problems.

OMIE in the design of the flexibility solution

OMIE will investigate and define the products and peculiarities of this new market model in detail in order to design, develop, and manage the operation of the flexibility platforms.

To carry out all that is described above, the platform will be equipped with robust technological support; this also entails the design of the platform's data and process structure, the interfaces, the web environments needed to accommodate the new actors, and the handling of subsequent processes, such as the settlement and billing of their operations in these new markets.

In addition to the above, it will be necessary to have internal tools that will allow OMIE to manage the negotiations in the local markets, carrying out the necessary operation and administration activities in those markets.
